We woke up Christmas morning to a ton of snow! Mike, Jake and Will were so great they spent a couple of hours shoveling walks in our neighborhood and then did Roger and Judy's driveway and their neighbors. What a great way to help get in the Christmas spirit but through serving others :) We got so much snow they actually canceled church because they couldn't get the snow removed in time for people to get there. It was a fun start to a great Christmas Day! We opened presents at our house then off to the Dean's for lunch and presents. Rachel called early evening so that was a great way to end our Christmas! We gave the kids a trip to Hawaii this year to celebrate Rachel's mission accomplished as a family. The kids each opened 12 gifts to go with the hawaiian theme (the same thing we sent Rachel except hers were over a 12 day period :). One of my young women leaders put together this cute poem to help introduce each gift. It was so clever and added just the right touch to make it a spiritual morning!
12 HAWAIIN DAYS OF CHRISTMAS...
Your mission is almost over, and it will soon be time to say goodbye
To Canada and the people you love; but there’s no need to cry!
There’s one thing left to do before you leave and will be missed…
Enjoy your 12 days of Christmas with a fun twist.
On the 1st day of Christmas, my family gave to me
An unexpected summertime gift when it’s so cold in Calgary.
Say goodbye to cold Canadian air and to plugging in your car.
Say hello to sunscreen and warmer days when you travel afar.
On the 2nd day of Christmas the sea may seem out of reach.
Because truth be told, Calgary has no beach.
But everyone needs a good towel in case they get wet.
So now Sister Dean, you are all set.
Once your mission is finished a few things will change.
Daily skirts and dresses are mission attire to rearrange.
On the 3rd day of Christmas you can pack up the heels
And try on some flip flops to see how good your feet feel.
No swimming allowed is a common mission rule.
But soon enough a swimsuit could be a useful gift and tool.
On the 4th day of Christmas remember Christ is the Living Water,
Who loves us so much along with our Heavenly Father.
On the 5th day of Christmas we reflect on God’s gift of His Son.
The Atonement was the ultimate gift only the Savior could have done.
His example teaches us how we want to BEE.
So we will STICK to the commandments and live righteously.
On the 6th day of Christmas, you’re getting ready to say farewell.
But get ready to say hello to your family (and perhaps a certain male).
Enjoy the sun lotion for many bright and sunny days ahead.
A new tropical adventure awaits… enough said.
The star of Bethlehem signaled the birth of our Lord.
We as Mormons are lucky to have the Lord’s church restored.
As a SHARP missionary you’ve been willing to discuss
These truths with investigators. Happy 7th day of Christmas.
On your mission you taught families can be together forever.
Binding eternal families is such a worthy endeavor.
On the 8th day of Christmas enjoy some candy.
Remember your service has helped sweet Canadian families.
On the 9th day of Christmas, what gift do you see?

Of you and your hard work to spread the Gospel afar.
Thank you for serving with all your heart the last year and a half.

Then pack a suitcase for Hawaii with islands so heavenly,
Where you’ll celebrate mission accomplished with our whole family.
