BROADHEAD MEADOWS

Our 3rd ADVENTURE in the trailer was to Broadhead Meadows in the Uintahs over the 24th of July weekend with The Harkness Family. Mike works with Ben Harkness and our kids have such a great time together. We had a great time camping with them and getting to know them even better. It was nice to get out of the heat for a few days and relax. The place we camped was absolutely gorgeous. It was about 21 miles past Kamas.

(The dads bought the boys these $3 planes in Kamas.)
The problem was they kept getting stuck in the trees. Mike climbed one tree to rescue a plane. I kept thinking...seriously it was a $3 plane...but he rescued it thankfully with no injuries. The Harkness' brought their golf cart. The kids had a great time riding around the camp.

TREK (July 12 - 15)

Rachel was able to participate in our Stake Trek last week. They went to Martin's Cove, Wyoming and were there 3 nights and 4 days. They trekked 6.4 miles the 1st day, 15.2 miles the 2nd day and 13. 4 miles the 3rd day = 35 miles. She had such a great experience. They had no injuries. A few people were sick from dehydration and blisters but other than that no problems. Her appreciation of the pioneers and all they went through so we could have our religious freedom grew. She really bonded with some kids in our ward and their love for each other grew. We are so proud of her and grateful for her positive attitude.

In 1998 (July 9 - 11) when Rachel was 2 and I was 5 months pregnant with Jake the Nelson family did a mini trek in Martin's cove. It was fun to look back at some pictures with Rachel before she left for her own trek to the same spots.

SCOUT CAMP (July 6 - 10)

Mike and Jake had their scout camp last week. They were gone 4 nights and 5 days. This year they backpacked in 5 miles to Cleveland Lake in the Unitahs. I sure hope these scouts realize how lucky they are to have Jeff Davies as their leader and Mike as the assistant. These guys are really patient and know how to have fun with these boys. There were 5 scouts, 2 leaders, lots of rain, fishing, fires, cards, frisbee golf and fun exploring everyday. Kristine and I were so glad when they were able to call us and say they were on their way home and they were all OK. I really hate not being able to communicate with Mike for so many days.
