SPRING SPORTS

SOCCER = SADIE
Sadie had another great season in soccer.  She really enjoys it.  She scored quite a few goals this season.  Thanks Coach Davies for a great season!

SOCCER = WILL
Will's comp team did really well again this season.  Will scored lots and has really enjoyed playing and getting to know the boys better. Thanks Coach Reynard and Coach Burningham for a great season!

 TRACK = JAKE
Jake did track this spring and loved it.  He competed in the 1600 = 1 mile and the 800 = 1/2 mile.  His fastest mile was 5:42.
His fastest 1/2 mile was 2:40.

GOLF = RACHEL
Rachel decided to join the golf team this spring.  She learned a lot and had a great time getting out and playing.  Although Olympus didn't do too well in their tournaments, Rachel had a great time being part of the team.

MOTHER'S DAY

 I was sure spoiled this morning.  Waiting for me on the kitchen counter when I woke up were some of the things I love:
*Roses
*Diet Coke w/Lime
*Reeses
*Chocolate covered strawberries
*Homemade gifts from Sadie and Will
*Card from Mike and the kids
Mike made me an omelet for breakfast.  It was filled with cheese, ham, bacon, tomatoes and pepper.  It sure was nice to not have to make breakfast!

I sure love being a mom to these great kids.  They are constantly teaching me about love and patience.  I couldn't imagine my life without being a mom.  Thanks for making me feel like such an important part of your lives.  I love each one of you more than you will ever know!

I love you Babe! You make being a wife and mom so much fun!  Thanks for always making me feel loved and appreciated :)

So grateful to have such great moms in our lives.  Thank you for always being so supportive in all that we do.  We are so lucky to have such great women that we get to call mom. We love you!

RACE for the CURE

Yesterday I ran in the "Race for the Cure" with 6 friends in my ward.  It is a 5k race that runs downtown. It is the first time I have participated in this event.  It was amazing to me to see how much support and people that came out. Our friend Mandy (the one in the picture next to me with the bright pink shirt on) in our ward is a breast cancer survivor.  She actually came in first for any survivor in the race!  She is an amazing friend and woman. Thanks ladies for the great time!

ZHUOCAN

We have had the opportunity this school year to be a part of the "INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP FAMILY PROGRAM" at the University of Utah.  It is a program that you commit to be a friend and help these students learn more about our culture.  We got together and did something every month. The student we have been "hosting" is...

ZHUOCAN
(We have a hard time saying her name so we call her Jewels :)

 She is from China and is here working on her Masters in Atmospheric Science.  It has been really fun to get to know her and more about her family and culture.  The funny thing is when we decided to participate in the program my mom and dad had decided to participate in their ward too.  We didn't know this and when they were given a Chinese student as well it sure has made it nice to do things together.  Their students name is Laura.

Laura and Zhuocan
(Jake and Will's birthday dinner in November)

 Another family in our ward (The Cravens) were given a Chinese girl and boy to host (named Rolly and Kin Lee) so we did some activities with them as well throughout the school year.  We went bowling and to pizza in February. They had such a great time bowling.  The students had never done this so it was fun to watch them figure it out.
Zhuocan and Laura helped celebrate my 40th birthday with dinner at my parents home.

This past Monday night for FHE we hiked up to Ensign Peak with the students and the Cravens, then to Hires for floats and shakes (they tried rootbeer for the first time there.  They didn't really like it :)

Zhuocan has finished her last set of finals and is heading back to China for most of the summer.  I think it was a great experience to show our kids that people have differences and come from different places but that we can be a friend to them and love them for who they are.  We will miss seeing Zhuocan every month but hope to always keep in touch!

SALT LAKE 1/2 MARATHON

A few weeks ago I did the Salt Lake 1/2 Marathon with a friend in my ward.  Mandy is a serious die hard and is doing lots of races this spring and summer.  She had on her list to do the Salt Lake 1/2 and since I love to run she talked me into it.  The problem was I WAS NOT ready for this race.  Training in the winter in 30 degree weather is super hard and when spring finally came it was hard to get out with allergies my throat and head seemed to always be stuffed up and scratchy .  Needless to say I didn't train like I should have and after mile "5" I paid the price.  I literally had to stop after each mile and walk.  Not only that I had to stop at mile 10 and go to the bathroom.  AWESOME! Mike met me at mile 9 and ran the last 4 miles with me.  I was SO GLAD to see him.  I lost Mandy at about mile 6.  She did an AWESOME job!

At the start...
Mandy: 1 hr 56 minutes
Me: 1 hr 59 minutes

    It was fun to see my parents at the finish line :)
Next its..

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BABE
April 19, 2012 = 19 adventurous years together :)
I LOVE YOU!

EASTER SUNDAY

Of course we had to do a photo shoot before church on Easter Sunday. Our kids are always pretty good sports about how many pictures I make them take. It seems like we have been gone the last few Easters so it was nice to be home Easter Sunday and get to go to church together.
We have some pretty cute kids if I do say so myself :)
